Ayurveda Skin Care Treatment

Skin is a vital part of our body health and well being. Our skin integrates the whole body “under one roof”. Lack of internal equilibrium manifests through the skin. Skin diseases indicate that something is wrong inside the body. Skin disorders can vary depending on the area and intensity of the disease. One of the most frequently sought cures is Psoriasis treatment in Ayurveda.

Some of the common skin diseases are

  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Pimples and skin blemishes
  • Allergies

From an Ayurvedic perspective, the underlying cause of skin diseases is improper diet and lifestyle. If you pursue a diet or lifestyle that goes against your nature (Prakriti) you can develop a bodily imbalance that gives rise to skin disorders.

The skin is the first defence system of our body. It protects us from microbial elements, plays a significant role in regulating body temperature, allows the sensations of heat, cold and touch. For a person to have skin conditions, there may be more than one factor leading to it. It can be due to allergies, genetic makeup, irritants, immune system disorder, or certain diseases.

Allergies are a collection of conditions arising due to the hypersensitivity of a human immune system to certain objects. Common allergic symptoms are redness of the eyes, swelling, sneezing, itches and rashes, runny nose and shortness of breath. For Ayurveda allergies treatment, the usual practice is to eliminate the pent up toxins in the body.

Apart from allergies, yet another reason for having flushed skin is hypertension. It is identified as ‘Rakta dhathu dosha’ or imbalanced/impure blood. For hypertension treatment, a combination of herbal remedies along with physical treatments are considered. Nasya is an effective treatment in curing the difficulties posed by allergies. Hypertension is found to be asymptomatic in most cases but the risk factors range from a sedentary lifestyle, age and other medical conditions.

According to ayurvedic concepts, Raktha dhathu and Rasa dhathu combines together to nourish the skin. It has been observed that the people of pitta dominance are prone to skin conditions as opposed to Kapha and Vata dominant people. Raktha dhathu imbalance occurs due to consumption of hot food, alcohol, exposure to the sun or extreme work conditions. A pitta imbalance results in heating of the blood thereby disturbing the balance of the raktha and rasa dhathus. The skin of a pitta dominant person is freckled and reddish. It gets influenced easily by heat.

Ayurveda skin care

Similarly, for a Kapha dominant person, the skin is oily and the chances of getting whiteheads and blackheads are higher. For a Vata dominant person, the skin is observed to be extremely dry and prone to premature ageing of the skin. The Ayurveda skin care treatments are aimed at assisting with detoxification and cleansing it properly from the inside.

The ayurvedic skin Care treatment includes:

Lepas (herbal packs) – aimed at improving the skin texture and boost skin quality.
Udwarthanam (Herbal peeling therapy) – It is a special therapeutic dry deep tissue massage aimed at toning and exfoliating the skin, improves the complexion of the skin, reduces fat tissue, and cleanses the skin by removing toxins and other impurities.
Kashaya Dhara (decoction bath) – A type of Shirodhara where the type of decoction used for Dhara is kashaya which is known to reduce Vata doshas.
Pizhichil (oil bath) – It is a form of oil massage that combines two treatment practices of Snehana & Swedana. It is considered the best ayurvedic practice to strengthen the muscles, manage stress disorders and rejuvenate the skin among the many advantages it offers.
Ksheeradhara (Milk bath) – It is a relaxation treatment, It stimulates proper blood circulation and mind relaxation along with lubricating the joints, it also helps relieve muscle spasms and stiffness.
Khadirarishta : It is a medicine that helps deal with early signs of leprosy and skin diseases, Removes coloured spots and patches and itches, Smoothens the skin, It is renowned for its blood purifying properties.
Pindataila : It is known as the most effective oil for over the body application to help remove vata rakta from the body which in turn hep cure leprosy, other skin diseases and cracks in the soles of the feet.
Sarivadhya Leha : Known for being an effective blood purifier, it is used extensively in the treatment of various skin diseases. It helps increase blood, and cures bile. It is also an effective medicine for malnutrition and promotes health.

These treatments and herbal medicines help cleanse, and nourish the skin layers and regain the glow of the skin. Detoxification liver cleansing (Virechana) followed by herbal mixtures to purify the blood gives permanent support in healing achieved through the treatments.

All the aforementioned nourishing treatments help improve the skin to a new level which is a result of a transformed lifestyle with healthy practices that started with toxin removal.

Duration: 2-3 weeks as per the condition of the patient and duration of diseases.

Ayurvedic beauty routines for a better you

Ayurveda is not just about healing the ailments, but it is also about creating a peaceful and calming effect on the mind and soul. The Ayurveda philosophy emphasizes treating the whole body and not just address the ailment. This is what makes it such an effective way of healing. While most of the Ayurvedic treatments touch upon the core functions of our body, Ayurveda has also created some really effective external beauty routines that will pamper your skin, heal your hair, relax your body and mind and make you feel a different person altogether. It creates such a positive effect on the mind that you feel rejuvenated for a long time.

Ayurveda’s beauty treatments range from aromatic oil-based massages (Abhangya), bath rituals, applying herbal powders and oils on skin and hair to make them naturally more beautiful, and a lot more. Ayurveda is all about routines. Be it about going about your daily beauty routines like brushing your teeth, brushing your hair, make-up, moisturizing, bathing, exercising, yoga or meditation, all these add to your beauty. Ayurveda skin treatment

This treatment includes:

Massages: Be it aromatic oils, or herbal powders, massages make your skin smooth, cared for, and revitalized. Massages detoxify the skin and go deep into the tissues to rejuvenate them. They also calm your nerves and increase blood circulation adding inner radiance. Our ayurveda skin care treatments mix natural and aromatic oils for massages and bring the best out of the benefits.

Bath routine: Baths release bodily and mental tension, and help keep the mind calmer. Adding some herbal powders can provide extra delight to the body. Massage your skin mid-way into the bath to provide little extra care to the skin as it will remove the dead skin cells.

Anti-aging treatments: Sedentary lifestyle, diet, unhealthy habits, stress, and environmental conditions can result in premature aging. Ayurveda treats this through various therapies. Natural herbs like turmeric, neem, eucalyptus, sandalwood wraps, etc, exfoliate, detoxify, cleanse, and moisturize the skin. This makes it look younger and fresher.

All these treatments are based on the combination of the three doshas that are different in every individual. At Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda, all treatments are curated keeping the combination of these doshas in mind so that everyone gets a customized therapy. According to Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda skin care concepts, radiant skin is a result of Ojas, a product of our metabolism that is connected with our energy, joyful feeling, and aura. A good digestive system will ensure that the body is glowing from within.

The doshas are also the deciding factor on how beautiful the skin looks and feels. Dry skin is a result of an imbalance in Vata or Pitta. Imbalance in Kapha can make the skin oily and result in skin allergies and infections. These are treated in Ayurveda through proper diet, liver care, Abhyanga, daily cleansing, sufficient sleep, relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, exercise, face masks using herbal powder, etc.

And this is what Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda does for you. Indulge in some self-care and look radiantly beautiful with our Radiant Beauty treatment. The majority of people use cosmetic products to maintain their skin and hair health. As people become more knowledgeable about the detrimental consequences of chemicals on a daily basis, they have begun to seek out natural, chemical-free solutions. This is where Ayurveda comes in.

We at Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda have a variety of options to treat the problems for each individual and their body type.

Siro Vasti
Shiro Vasti is an ayurvedic treatment in which the Shira (head) is treated to a method known as Vasti, which involves a pool of warm oil in a chamber above the head. “A chamber that holds” is what Vasti means (in this case, the pool of oil over the head). The therapy has been shown to help with facial paralysis, excessive hair loss, lubricating the nostrils and throat, and providing incomparable relaxation from life’s stresses and strains. It improves hair texture, and it is an effective hair regrowth treatment.

Mukha Abhyangam
The traditional method of face massage and detoxification involves the application of herbal lotions and astringents customized to the body type. The massage concentrates on the Marma points on the face, neck, and shoulders, which re-energizes the tissues and refreshes the senses. It combines herbal steam therapy for the face with the application of a herbal face mask according to the skin and body type. This is a rejuvenating and relaxing massage that improves skin tone and shines. When facial massage is combined with head massage, the results are fantastic. It is a proven Ayurveda skin care treatment.

Mukhalepanam
On the face, a unique, customised herbal paste is applied. Mukhalepam is a simple Ayurvedic skincare therapy that consists of spreading freshly produced facial creams over the face. In Malayalam, mukham means face, and lepa, lepana, or lepanam denotes paste application. The exotic herbal pack contains a paste prepared from several herbs. It helps to prevent skin ageing, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. It prevents facial skin pigmentation and discolouration, as well as addresses sunburn-related diseases. After examining the person’s skin type and individual requirements, the herbal combination is chosen. This Ayurveda skin care treatment resolves many skin-related issues.

Ayurvedic Head Massage
Ayurvedic head massage is a 5000-year-old therapeutic technique that has been used in India. It entails a variety of pressure techniques, such as circular massage strokes that target the head, shoulders, and neck. When combined with aromatic oils and Ayurvedic herbal formulas, these deep massage techniques improve the condition of your scalp and hair. It also boosts your body’s natural healing ability. Without the use of harsh shampoos, it lubricates and conditions the scalp, preventing flakes and dry scalp. Regular head massages with medicated oil can also help to prevent premature hair greying. It promotes new hair development and strengthens existing hair by strengthening the roots and nourishing the hair shafts.

Navara Kizhi
In Malayalam, Navara refers to 60-day-growing rice (Shashtika Shali in Sanskrit), while Kizhi refers to bolus (Pinda in Sanskrit). Njavara is a rice variety indigenous to Kerala that has therapeutic benefits. It is a one-of-a-kind therapy method used by Kerala Ayurveda doctors. Over the head and body, a generous amount of medicinal oil is applied. After that, a warm muslin bag bolus containing Navara rice puddings cooked in the herbal decoction is used to massage the body. When the boluses cool down, they are dipped in a mixture of warm milk and herbal decoctions, creating sleepiness. The milk and other ingredients in the Navara facial function as a good cleanser, while the rice acts as a good scrubber while also nourishing the skin, leaving it soft and radiant at the end of the treatment. Acne vulgaris, hyperpigmentation, dull and blemished skin all benefit from the Navara facial

Hair Nourishment Treatment
Your hair health reflects the distinctive combination of three doshas — Vata, pitta, and Kapha – in your body, according to the Ayurvedic perspective of the body. Given that we all have a combination of these three doshas in our bodies, it’s very likely that your hair will exhibit traits from more than one dosha. It’s extremely rare to come across someone whose hair is purely Vata, Pitta, or Kapha-type. The basic characteristics of each of these three hair kinds are shown below; you can use them to figure out which ones best match your own hair. Essential nourishing ingredients like Bhringaraja, Brahmi, Amla, and Neelini are found in Ayurvedic hair loss solutions like Neelibringadi Keram, Kesini Oil, and Virgin Coconut Oil, which help provide holistic hair care and act as natural remedies for baldness, dandruff, dry hair, split ends, and hair loss.

Siro Dhara
It’s an incredibly calming method that involves a constant stream of warm therapeutic oils (Tail Dhara) or medicated buttermilk (Takra Dhara) flowing rhythmically across the forehead utilising special instruments. After Abhyangam, this is frequently done. This therapy is effective in treating mental stress and psychosomatic diseases. It relaxes your body and mind and promotes restful sleep.
