Ayurvedic Immunity Booster
Stay healthy with
ancient science of Ayurveda

We all are born with a basic immune system, which is quite weak. As we grow and interact with the surrounding environment, our bodies come in contact with various microbes and learn to fight with them. This strengthens our immune system. And the robust immune system is necessary to keep the ability of our body to fight external factors infecting us and making us fall sick. While modern medicine sees immunity as a function of certain cells, enzymes, and immunomodulatory chemicals working together to prevent pathogens from acting in our body, Ayurveda sees it in a different light. According to Ayurveda, immunity Bala (strength), Vyadhi Kshamathwa (resistance to illness), and Ojas (resilience) are the primary factor the comprise immunity and help our bodies fight against different kinds of illnesses.

For living a healthy life, it is important to have a strong immune system so that we don’t fall sick to normal, weaker infections. And even if we do, our bodies have the ability to fight them out. And the world realized the importance of having a strong immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic and suddenly resorted to a different kind of immunity-building food items and kadhaas. But Ayurveda deals with building a strong immunity in a rather holistic manner where it treats and addresses the core of our bodies to create an immune system that has the ability to keep the body fit and healthy. And a healthy body is a boon for the mind and soul as well. So, maintaining a strong immune system benefits all three elements of our existence.

Concept of immunity in Ayurveda

As we mentioned above, Ayurveda looks at immunity as a combination of Bala, Vyadhi Kshamathwa, and Ojas, and all three aspects are equally important. While Bala is the ability of our bodily system to repair and nourish itself, Vyadhi Kshamathwa is the immune system’s ability to fight diseases. As Ayurveda looks into the core areas of ailments in the body, it emphasizes maintaining the right digestive system for good health. Keeping the right balance between three doshas through cleansing, detox, healthy and balanced diet, and following the six Rasas philosophy, we can keep ourselves fit and healthy. And finally, Ojas is all about our body’s ability to resist any kind of unfavorable physical, mental or environmental change causing an imbalance in our body.
How our mind affects our immunity

Ayurvedic Immunity Booster
Ayurveda has, for centuries emphasized having a balanced mental state for building strong immunity. The concept of Ojas perfectly explains how our mental state affects the immune system. Too much anger, cravings, sadness, stress, worry, and exertion have a negative impact on our bodies and lowers our defense mechanisms. That is why Ayurveda also emphasizes doing yoga and meditation regularly to keep a calm mind. The way Ayurveda holistically treats digestion, its impact on our immune system, and mental state, and how it impacts our immunity helps in creating a balanced body function.
